My granddaughter, just turned two, and a wiggly toddler, goes to Mass in the Cathedral every Sunday with me. “Less go to chuch!” she says. “I love Maowy gaLoopy” she says, smiling. And she does. We hang out on the lawn afterwards and bring pinecones and dandelions to her plaque. Maowy stands on a Mexican angel and the black moon. Then there are the rays the granddaughter sees as golden ouchies.
Thanks for the poem, and our prayers are already answered, I think.

That was really beautiful and moving. I liked the long tall form of the poem, evocative of the tall candle. (At least to me! I’m no poetry major!)
