Love, 80

Dear Jenn,

Ask all. I glow because you asked. Yell. Breathe. You are grand.

Love,
Your 80-year-old self

Dear 80,

How does it turn out?

Love,
You-Us

Dear Jenn,

You already know.

I was never ashamed of you. I am proud. Speak up. Ask. Ask. Ask. Always ask.

Yelling into the wind is another way of praying. Happy Easter.

Love,
80

Dear 80,

I can’t wait to meet you.

Love,
37

Dear Jenn,

You already have.

I love you,
80

“Yelling into the wind is another way of praying,” – pure poetry.

And, may I add, a poem I recite many, many times.

Dear Jenn,

Why am I in a padded room wearing a scratchy, canvas jacket with sleeves way too long and clanky buckles on the end?

Love,
Your 40 year-old Self

Dear 40,

After I had a talk with that kook, 80, I decided to have you confined for your own good. What’s it like in there anyway?

Love,
Jenn

Dear Jenn,

Not so bad, really. Meals are regular, though windows would be nice. And the de-lousing powder makes my skin SO soft! I never would have thought! How’re the girls doing now that I’m in here?

Love,
40

Dear 40,

Shhhh. I’m training them to break you outta there in a couple years. The four of us will move to Iceland, learn to talk all funny, and the parties are going to be out of this WORLD!

Love,
Jenn

This, I presume, is nothing like the movie Star 80. Which I’ve never seen and never will see.

That was really beautiful.

Finally delurking here….after having finished the archives I’m ready to declare myself forever a “Fan of Jenn”. Your life has made me laugh and cry. You make me feel and that is the highest praise I can give a write. Good luck and know there are many who hold you in their hearts.

Jenn: I’ve had this conversation with myself. My 80-year-old self isn’t quite as kind as yours. Mine is still a little upset about her wrinkles and flabby belly (both of which can be blamed on her children who now change her diaper). The bright side is that she’s glad she’s old enough and crotchity enough to not care what people think of her anymore. :)

Big smiles and hugs from London.

This is so beautiful.

It will be great. You’ll see. Sad for a while, but then better and better and not sad anymore, for any of you.

Check out #3. And please keep writing! I love reading everything you write.

In tonight’s episode of Breed ‘em and Weep: Jenn “loves herself” 5 times!!!!

I just hope all this contact with your future self works out better for you than it did for Bruce Willis in 12 Monkeys.

12 Jenn March 29, 2008 at 1:30 am

I think Spot just’s jealous because he wants to watch me “love myself” five times in a row in hi-def.

I’d buy that for a dollar.

…or $3.99/minute, as the case may be.
