I want you to want me: Word Moose for hire!

May 26, 2009 · 24 comments

Here’s what my newfound Moose totem wants me to tell you today:

Here I am. Word Moose, for hire.

You’re struggling to find the words.

I’m still unemployed, and running out of unemployment benefits.

Let me wander out of the woods and help you finish a writing project that’s whipping your tush. Let me hoof on over through the virtual forest and assist you in finding your grooviest, truest voice. Let me use my Moosey superskills to edit your thesis, to give you feedback on your newborn book proposal, to teach you to write a one-act play.

I often get emails that say, “I love your writing. I wish I could write like you.”

I’m glad you don’t. I’m glad you can’t. You shouldn’t. If you wrote like me, everyone in your life and in the world at large would be missing out.

Authentic self. Unique voice. That’s where it’s at. Screw the recession. Leave something beautiful behind. Leave tracks in the woods. Low at the moon.

Considering offering a Moose-tastic online writing class, limited in numbers. Also considering doing one-on-one writing coaching, instruction and haz-mat cleanup for the projects gone wrong, baby, wrong. We’ve all been there.

If you might be interested, let me know. Drop me a line at breedemandweep at g m a i l.

Word Moose? She’s got your back.

Darling, I would shake the remaining pennies out of The Mook’s piggy bank to pay for a writing course hosted by you.

Ditto to bad mummy except replace “The Mook’s” with “Boog’s”. I just wouldn’t feel right about shaking some other kid’s piggy bank.

I don’t need a wordsmith at the moment, but we will need a trusty storekeep to fill in in August when we head to the Midwest. Any interest? It would be very temporary…but we need the help.

I love this – 3 cheers for the moose who has inspired you! Wishing you all good things from this…and be sure to let us know if that writing class materializes!

I would be interested in an on-line writing class. Sounds like a great idea. You should definitely pursue this.

Way to go, Moose! I would love to hear more about an online writing course, if you choose to pursue that.

And, suzy, if the Moose and her Muse are busy in August, I will be one of the newly unemployed (argh) and may be able to help mind the store for you.

Jenn, “Moose and Muse” – is that a good name for your new endeavor?

Bonjour, Jenn!

I would be interested as well! My mom signed up for something similar and she is really getting a kick out of it. I was sort of jealous, but now I see this, and I think, hmm….a sign? Would love to know more, so keep us posted.

I have three writing projects in the works but have to make the time to write. I need a Moose Boot Camp Sergeant to stand behind me and scream “Write!” or “Drop and give me another paragraph!” which doesn’t really seem very Moosely.

Maybe you should do a virtual writing course for peeps (not for peeps of the marshmallow variety although that would be hilarious and I would want to film it for Peep Week 2010). I’ve lost my place and I am no rocket scientist but I think I digressed. I’m tired. I should go back to bed.

Go Word Moose!

The possibility of an on-line writing class has piqued my interest – though I doubt the potential of my dusty, alarmingly conventional old brain to generate anything fresh or meaningful. Please keep us posted as you develop this idea…am wondering about costs, time commitment, tech requirements, etc. Also – googled “moose totem” – and share the thoughts of those who have already noted how cool/touching/perfect it is for you.

Thanks,

and of course, you should launch your class in the fall

13 Christy May 27, 2009 at 11:58 am

Online writing class? With you? Totally. I’m there. For real.

14 AA May 27, 2009 at 10:37 pm

Some great ideas there. I’ll remember this the next time I have something important to write. I assume you must draw the line somewhere though and if I go back to school you won’t wrtie my master’s paper for me.

15 suzy May 28, 2009 at 8:03 am

To the Mater- say it ain’t so! That really sucks… here i keep think the economy is on the up. Well, we’d love the help!
Jenn- An online writing course is a brilliant idea.

I’m intrigued, too.

17 Amy May 28, 2009 at 7:10 pm

Yes, very intriguing. I’d love to be involved.

18 rayjoy May 29, 2009 at 3:29 pm

Go moose go!
This might be the beginning of a beautiful new forest for your Moose to roam.

19 Belinda May 29, 2009 at 10:47 pm

You’d have to have at least 50 people to break even.. Why not substitute teach and then get a teaching credential? Or teach at a community college?

Or do oral histories and scrapbooks of family histories or even the histories of small businesses?

20 Jen May 30, 2009 at 9:39 pm

I’m definitely interested. Creativity’s important, even if boring stuff is what pays the bills.

21 Chris (Mombie) May 31, 2009 at 6:50 pm

I had a dream last night that me and my sons were helping you and your girls set up for your book launch, unloading boxes of books from my Mazda 5, laying out plates of cookies and so on.

Oh and your book was called something like ‘Mama Bear: The Highs and Lows of Mothering.’ Just so you know. :)

22 JCK May 31, 2009 at 8:47 pm

Can you help with “bruised egos and whaa whaa writer’s latest mantra that’s getting her nowhere” kind of problems?

23 Danielle-Lee June 18, 2009 at 8:34 pm

Can you help someone who has pretty good ideas/stories in her head, but CAN’T GET THEM OUT? i’ve been struggling for years. Sigh.

24 mb June 22, 2009 at 6:52 pm

um, ok!
