A seriously terrific birth story.

Man, looking at these comments and thinking about my own fears I realise that we're all caught up with the pooing during birth issue. My midwife told me in 30 years of practice she had only seen ONE woman who had not pooed even a tiny little bit during birth. Relax, it is inevitable.

As did my mother before me, I crowned my first on the toilet. Why does no one explain about the poo? And the mooing is key.

If we can do this, we can do anything.

Happy Birth Day to both of you.

I LOVE birth stories! You are badass! This made laugh out loud. I so remember "needing to poo"...pacing the bathroom and getting on and off the toilet.
Don't let go of that feeling! Not the poo one, but the amazement and invicibility. The liberation of doing something you didn't think you could possibly do. Of experiencing something truly new.
I'm so happy this memory reminded you that you ARE a BADASS. You CAN get through this. You pushed a wombat out of your va-gaga for chrissake.

A great story - thanks for sharing.

From the day that I peed on the stick, I was afraid of the poo. I even told my brother-in-law at the Thanksgiving dinner table how worried I was about the poo (which was definitely too much information from me). The drugs that they gave me were bad drugs in that I don't remember much of my daughter's birth, but my husband has confirmed that I did in fact poo and that the wonderful labor nurse cleaned me up quickly and discreetly each time. In my birth story, the labor nurse is a super hero -- bless her.

Well. My husband was in the tub with me when I started pushing, and then when I got out to push on the toilet, he stood there awkwardly while the (too much information) sank to the bottom of the tub. My midwife said, graciously, "there is no birth without poop."

You hath transcended our humble physical laws.
